Furkan has spent more than twenty years guiding in Istanbul and planning custom travel across Turkey. Most of his guests come from the United States, Australia, New Zealand, and Canada, and a growing share of his work now comes through travel advisors who return to him with the same families year after year.

Shopping in Istanbul can become complicated without local knowledge, particularly inside the Grand Bazaar.
This is one of Derya's particular strengths.

Derya is usually the answer.

Derya is also the best photographer on the team.
Solo travelers often return home with plenty of photographs of Istanbul and surprisingly few good photographs of themselves. She treats correcting that as part of the day rather than as a favor.
She also reads Turkish coffee grounds when asked, which is a real tradition here and an excellent way to finish a long lunch.
Istanbul's street cats appear to like her roughly as much as she likes them.

Which Guide May Suit Your Trip?
There is no simple answer to whether one guide is "better" than another. Furkan and Derya are both experienced licensed guides and both lead private sightseeing in Istanbul.
Their individual strengths, however, can make one especially well suited to a particular journey.
Travelers planning a more complex multi-day itinerary around Turkey, those who enjoy asking detailed questions about history, or guests who value having the same person closely involved in both itinerary planning and guiding may naturally find Furkan a particularly good fit.

Can You Request Furkan or Derya?
Yes, and it is worth asking early.
Between them, Furkan and Derya guide most of our multi-day tours, so there is a good possibility that one of them will be available for a longer itinerary.
We are deliberately a small agency, however, and guide availability is genuinely limited during high season. For that reason, we generally recommend confirming a private guide around four weeks before your dates whenever possible.

Are Your Istanbul Tour Guides Licensed?
Yes. Furkan and Derya are both professional licensed tour guides. In Turkey, a tour guide license is a formal professional qualification and permits a guide to work inside museums and monuments rather than simply speaking to guests outside the entrance.
Can I Request a Specific Tour Guide in Istanbul?
Yes. You can request Furkan or Derya when you enquire, and we will tell you whether that guide is available on your dates before you commit to anything.
Availability becomes more limited in high season, so asking around four weeks in advance gives you a better chance of securing your preferred guide.
Can I Request a Female Tour Guide in Istanbul?
Yes. A female guide can be arranged on request for any of our Istanbul tours, subject to availability on your dates.
It is one of the requests we receive most often, particularly from women traveling alone.
Will the Same Guide Stay With Me for a Multi-Day Trip?
Whenever availability allows, that is how we prefer to arrange multi-day itineraries.
A guide who already understands what interested you on day one is better placed to shape day two. If a change of guide is necessary, it is agreed with you in advance.
Who Arranges the Entrance Tickets, Hotels, and Transportation?
Bahadir Can coordinates these arrangements, working with the guide who will be with you.
Entrance fees for selected museums and sites are included in our private tours, and tickets are arranged in advance wherever possible. Advance arrangements may save time by avoiding or reducing ticket-purchase lines, but all visitors must still pass through mandatory security checks.
Waiting times vary depending on the season, visitor numbers, cruise schedules, public holidays, and local conditions.
What Languages Do Your Guides Speak?

How Far in Advance Should I Book a Private Guide in Istanbul?
Around four weeks is a comfortable margin, and earlier is advisable during high season or around public holidays.
We are a small team by choice, and the calendar fills.
