We receive versions of that sentence regularly, and the people who write it are right about one thing: our figure is often higher than several of the other quotes they have received.
We will not pretend otherwise.
What we can do is explain why.
Almost every proposal for a private trip to Istanbul or Turkey uses similar words: private guide, boutique hotel, domestic flight, airport transfer, entrance fees.
Those phrases can appear almost identically on two proposals with very different prices.
What they do not tell you is who the guide is, which hotel has actually been selected, what time the flight leaves, whether museum tickets are included, whether the transfer is genuinely private, or whether part of the day's economics depends on a shopping stop you never requested.
Two quotes can look remarkably similar on paper while delivering very different trips.
This page is not an argument that everyone should spend more. It is a guide to where the money goes, so that when you put two proposals next to each other, you know what you are actually comparing.
Use the same questions on us as readily as on anybody else.
Why do our private Istanbul tours cost more?
The short answer is that we prefer to put the cost into the experience itself.
That can mean a professional licensed private guide working only with your party, museum entrance fees already included, tickets arranged in advance wherever possible, private transportation when included in the itinerary, carefully selected hotels on longer journeys, sensible domestic flight times, and no hidden or commission-driven shopping detours.
We are not trying to create the lowest possible headline price.
We are trying to build a trip we are comfortable putting our name on.
Are you the cheapest private tour company in Istanbul?
No. And that is not what we are trying to be.
We are also not interested in being expensive simply to appear exclusive.
Our approach is straightforward: we quote what we believe the experience costs to run properly, with the important elements clear before you confirm.
When two private tour proposals differ significantly in price, the more useful question is not simply which one costs less.
It is:
What does each price actually include?
Museum entrance fees may be separate. Transportation may be shared rather than private. Hotels may differ considerably in location, room category, and overall quality. Domestic flights may be selected entirely by fare rather than by how they affect the itinerary. And some tour economics may depend on commission-driven shopping visits.
Those differences are not always obvious when you first look at two proposals.
That is why we encourage guests to compare the details rather than simply the number at the bottom of the page.
Why do some tours appear first when you search?
Large booking platforms generally charge operators a commission on the bookings they generate.
Visibility can also depend on factors such as additional commission arrangements that can increase exposure.
This matters when you compare prices.
When a significant portion of the guest's payment goes toward distribution and platform commission, less of that payment remains with the local operator delivering the experience.

That allows us to explain exactly what is included and keep more of the price focused on the experience itself: professional guiding, museum entrance fees, thoughtful itinerary planning, and the services confirmed in your proposal.
Who will actually be guiding us?
A professional licensed guide, working with your party and nobody else.
Professional tour guiding is regulated in Turkey. We work with local guides who hold the required professional licenses and are authorized to guide at the historical and cultural sites included in your itinerary.
Good guiding is not simply memorizing dates.
Its value appears when your child asks an unexpected question, when something in Hagia Sophia catches your attention, or when a conversation about Ottoman architecture turns into one about Byzantine engineering.
A strong private guide can follow that conversation rather than reciting a standard script.
The guide is also one of the most important costs in a private day.
We do not try to reduce a guide's professional rate simply to produce a cheaper quote.
We want guides who know who they are meeting, have read the notes we have shared, and are comfortable adapting the day when the people in front of them need something different.
Where available, a female guide can also be arranged on request. We recommend mentioning this when you first contact us so we can check availability for your dates.
Are museum entrance fees included in the price you quote?
Yes.
When museum visits are included in your confirmed tour itinerary, the entrance fees are included in the quoted figure.
We do not want a carefully priced private day to suddenly become more expensive at the museum gate.
Major sites such as Topkapi Palace and Hagia Sophia can represent a significant part of the cost of an Istanbul sightseeing day. A proposal that does not include those tickets can therefore appear significantly less expensive at first.
The useful question is not simply:
"How much is the tour?"
It is:
"What will we actually have paid by the end of the day?"
Wherever possible, we also arrange tickets in advance.
Advance tickets may save time by avoiding or reducing the ticket-purchase line, especially during busy periods.
But there is one important distinction.
Advance tickets do not bypass mandatory security checks.
Everyone still passes through the required security screening.
Waiting times vary according to season, visitor numbers, cruise schedules, public holidays, and local conditions.
We prefer to explain that clearly before you travel rather than promise something nobody can control.
Why is there no hidden shopping stop built into your Istanbul day?
We do not take commissions or kickbacks from shops, workshops, or restaurants.
Commission-driven shopping is one of the least clearly explained parts of tourism.
A shop may pay a guide or operator a percentage of what guests spend. This can make it financially attractive to add a carpet demonstration, a leather visit, a ceramics workshop, or a similar stop, even when the guest never requested it.
In some cases, that additional income can also support a lower headline tour price.
We prefer a simpler arrangement.
You are paying us to look after your trip.
We are not expecting somebody else to pay us for bringing you through their door.
That doesn't mean we are against shopping at all! If you're interested in buying a carpet, ceramics, jewelry, leather goods, or anything else while you're exploring Turkey, just let us know. We can gladly arrange shopping visits whenever you wish. The main difference is that these outings are entirely at your own request, rather than being part of the tour's core activities to meet economic needs.
If you do not ask for shopping, there is no hidden shopping stop in the itinerary.
How do you choose hotels on a multi-day Turkey trip?
We try to choose the best property your budget can comfortably support rather than the cheapest hotel that can be fitted inside it.
This is one reason we often ask about budget before preparing a detailed multi-city proposal.
It helps us understand what level of accommodation, transportation, and overall trip design we should realistically be researching.
The word boutique deserves particular attention when reviewing a proposal.
Boutique hotel is a recognized accommodation category in Turkey, but the word is also used broadly in everyday travel marketing. Seeing "boutique hotel" written on an itinerary therefore tells you much less than seeing the actual property name, room category, and conditions.
That is the information we believe matters.
Cappadocia is a particularly good example.
A cave hotel can be one of the most memorable places you stay in Turkey, but properties vary considerably. Heating, moisture control, room position, access, views, and quality of renovation all matter.
"Cave hotel in Cappadocia" is not enough information for us.
We prefer to provide the hotel name, room type, meal plan, and relevant cancellation conditions before an arrangement is confirmed.
We would rather place you in an excellent room at a very good property than choose an unsuitable room simply because the hotel name is more famous.
Why is the domestic flight you book not always the cheapest one?
Because the lowest airfare is not necessarily the best use of your vacation.
A cheaper flight may leave at an inconvenient hour.
If it requires you to leave your Istanbul hotel in the middle of the night, arrive in Cappadocia long before your room is available, and begin your first day exhausted, the airfare may be cheaper while the trip becomes worse.
Where domestic flights form part of one of our multi-city programs, we look first at how the flight fits the itinerary.
What time do you need to leave the hotel?
What time will you arrive?
Will you actually be able to use the afternoon?
Are you waking before dawn the following morning for a balloon flight?
Sometimes spending a little more on the right flight gives you several additional hours of your vacation back.
We think those hours matter.
Who is waiting for us when we land?
When a private Istanbul Airport transfer is included in your arrangement, your driver will be waiting for your party.
At Istanbul Airport, our guests are normally met outside Gate 9 with their name displayed.
The vehicle is private for your party and takes you directly to your hotel.
When flight information is provided, the arrival can also be monitored so that a delay does not leave you wondering whether somebody is still waiting.
After a long international journey, we prefer the first hour of your trip to feel organized.
What does private actually mean on your tours?
On our private guided tours, it means your party and your guide.
Nobody else is added to the group.
The real value of that is control of the day.
If the children have had enough of mosaics, you move on.
If somebody wants to sit for a while, you sit.
If a particular part of the history captures your attention, the conversation can stay there.
Private touring also allows the route to be designed around mobility and pace.
If somebody in your party has difficulty walking, uses a cane, has knee or hip concerns, or simply prefers a slower day, tell us before the tour.
Private travel works best when the itinerary serves the people traveling rather than asking the people traveling to serve the itinerary.
What is not included in our price?
We believe exclusions should be as clear as inclusions.
On regular sightseeing days, meals and drinks are generally not included unless specifically stated otherwise in your proposal.
Tips, personal purchases, travel insurance, visa or passport expenses, and optional activities added later are also separate unless your confirmed itinerary says otherwise.
Lunch is normally paid directly by the guest.
We prefer that your guide recommend somewhere based on the day, your location, and what you actually feel like eating, rather than selecting a restaurant because it has agreed to fit within a package rate.
Our private Istanbul food tours work differently.
On a food tour, the included food tastings and non-alcoholic beverages are part of the experience and are paid for by us.
Your confirmed proposal always tells you what applies to your particular itinerary.
Who looks after our trip when something changes?
This is one of the parts of private travel that is difficult to photograph.
Flights are delayed.
Opening hours change.
Weather affects a balloon flight.
A guest gets tired earlier than planned.
The value of local support is smallest when everything works perfectly and greatest when something changes.
We are a small, owner-operated company.
Your trip is not designed and then forgotten once payment is made. A member of our team follows the planning and remains involved while you are traveling in Turkey.
That continuity matters.
If you told us months earlier that your father has difficulty walking, that information should not disappear when the trip begins.
If the journey is for an anniversary, honeymoon, or family celebration, you should not need to explain it repeatedly.
For Istanbul inquiries, we normally reply within 24 hours.
More complicated multi-city proposals can take longer when we are waiting for hotels, transportation providers, or other suppliers to confirm availability.
Once you are traveling, you also have a local point of contact in Turkey.
That may not sound as exciting as a rooftop view over Cappadocia.
But when something changes, it can become one of the most valuable parts of the trip.
What happens if the Cappadocia balloon flight is canceled?
Hot air balloon flights in Cappadocia depend on weather conditions and aviation approval.
Nobody can guarantee that a balloon will operate on a particular morning.
If a balloon flight arranged through us is canceled due to weather conditions, the balloon charge is refunded in full.
This is also one reason we often recommend two nights in Cappadocia rather than designing a trip around only one realistic balloon opportunity.
One night may leave you with a single morning.
Two nights can create another possible opportunity if weather affects the first.
It can make the itinerary slightly longer and more expensive, but sometimes the better recommendation is not the cheapest recommendation.

When do we pay, and what happens if we cancel?
For our standard tour arrangements, payment is generally due 14 days before the travel date.
Longer programs can work differently when hotels, flights, transportation providers, or other suppliers have their own payment and cancellation conditions.
Those conditions are shared before confirmation.
What matters to us is transparency.
Before paying, you should understand:
What has actually been booked?
Which parts are refundable?
When do cancellation charges begin?
Do the hotel's conditions differ from our own cancellation policy?
Are flights refundable or changeable?
We want those details to be clear before your arrangements are confirmed.
How should you properly compare two private tour quotes?
Put the proposals side by side and look beyond the final number.
The differences usually become much clearer once you know what to examine.

Are the entrance fees for every ticketed site included, or will they be paid separately?
Will your guide be a professional licensed guide?
If accommodation is included, is the hotel named with the room category and meal plan?
If there is a domestic flight, what time does it leave and how does that affect the itinerary?
Is the airport transfer private and direct, or shared?
Is there a shop, workshop, or demonstration in the itinerary that you did not request?
Who will you actually be dealing with after you confirm the trip?

Why are your private Istanbul tours more expensive?
Because we focus on what goes into the experience rather than on producing the lowest headline price.
Professional guiding, included museum entrance fees, thoughtful planning, private services where confirmed, and avoiding commission-driven detours all affect the final figure.
Are museum entrance fees included?
Yes.
When a ticketed museum or historical site is included in your confirmed tour, its entrance fee is included in the quoted price.
Can you skip the lines at Hagia Sophia or Topkapi Palace?
Tickets can be arranged in advance wherever possible, which may save time at the ticket-purchase line.
Nobody can bypass mandatory security screening.
Will we be taken to a carpet shop?
Only if you want to go shopping.
There are no hidden or commission-driven shopping stops built into our itineraries.
Shopping can always be arranged upon request.
Why do you ask for our budget on a longer Turkey trip?
Because it helps us design a realistic itinerary with the appropriate hotel standard, transportation, and overall trip structure.
The budget allows us to research the right options from the beginning rather than build a proposal that does not match what you are comfortable spending.
Can we request a female guide?
Yes.
A female guide can be arranged wherever available. Please mention the request when you first contact us so we can check availability.
Are your guides licensed?
Yes.
We work with licensed, professional local guides who meet Turkey's legal requirements for tour guiding.
What happens if our Cappadocia balloon flight does not operate?
If a balloon flight arranged through us is canceled because of weather conditions, the balloon charge is refunded in full.
We also recommend allowing enough time in Cappadocia for another possible balloon morning when the itinerary permits.
Can you work with our travel advisor?
Yes.
We regularly work with travel advisors to arrange private travel in Istanbul and across Turkey and can coordinate local arrangements directly with them.
